IIHMR University Participated in UNGC’s ‘1st Quality Education Conclave’

Jaipur : IIHMR University took part in the prestigious United Nation Global Compact (UNGC) summit on ‘Aligning NEP with SDGs: Imperatives for Industry & Academia’, held in New Delhi. The summit was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The objective of this Conclave is to discuss and understand the National Education Policy (NEP) and its implications to achieve SDG 4 (Provide Quality Education for All by 2030) and promote Industry-Academia collaborations to develop a roadmap to achieve the same.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Director, IIHMR University, addressed the panel discussion on Leveraging Innovation and Technology: Ecosystems to scale up Delivery of Quality Education”. He shared the panel with other dignitaries including Dr. R P Singh, Secretary General, Quality Council of India, Dr. Pankaj Mittal, SG, AIU, Ramanathan Ramanan, Mission Director & Add. Secretary, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, GOI, Aseem Khera, Competency Head SAP India, and Dr. Deepti Verma, Director HR, Amazon India.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta, said that Values are often caught and not taught. If we want to create a country of innovators, we need to question and know our reason for being. We need to give children the freedom to be what they wish to be and create a culture around that. He further added that students should follow their passion and be focussed. we should first try to search amongst ourselves of what potential we have and work to achieve that rather than going against nature or goals which has been set by parents.

The summit deliberated upon ways and means to achieve SDG 4 i.e. Quality Education for All - school education, higher education, skill development, the role of National Education Policy-2019 in achieving ‘Quality Education for All’, and the critical role of the private sector in achieving the goal.

This Conclave was a platform for various stakeholders, Academia, Corporates, Government, UN Bodies, Accrediting Agencies, NGOs etc, to deliberate and prepare an actionable road map to achieve SDG 4 in India and thereby contribute to it globally.
