New Delhi : The World's largest search engine and an American multinational technology company Google who makes the temporary alteration of the logo calls as Google Doodle on it's homepage that is intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and most of the famous people, today has celebrated the 93rd birthday of legendary singer Mukesh.

On 93rd birth anniversary of the legendary singer Mukesh on Friday, American multinational technology company Google paid tributes to him with making a Doodle for the legendary singer. The legendary singer Mukesh's real name was Mukesh Chand Mathur but he is very well-known by only Mukesh. He was born on July 22nd in 1923. Mukesh, was famous as being the voice of legendary actor Raj Kapoor.

He went on to be one of the greatest singers of Bollywood in the black and white era of the movies. He sang for all the major stars or rather made them stars – Showman Raj Kapoor, for instance. Mukesh won numerous awards including the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song "Kai Baar Yuhi Dekha Hai..." from Rajnigandha in 1973.

  • Mukesh did not study much and left school after the 10th grade. He then worked briefly for the Department of Public Works.
  • During his employment in Department of Public Works, he also experimented with voice recordings.
  • Before making a career in singing, Mukesh first made his acting debut in the film 'Nirdosh' in the year 1941.
  • Mukesh's voice was first noticed by a distant relative Motilal, when he sang at his sister's wedding. Motilal then took him to Mumbai and arranged for singing lessons by Pandit Jagannath Prasad.
  • He got his break as a playback singer in 1945 with the film Pehli Nazar.
  • The first song that he sang for a Hindi film was "Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De"
  • He was such a big fan of K L Saigal that in his early years, he used to imitate him.
  • It is said that when K L Saigal first heard the song "Dil Jalta Hai...", he remarked, "That's strange, I don't recall singing that song."
  • With the help of Naushad Ali, Mukesh created his own singing style. Ali also helped him coming out of Saigal style.
  • He has sung a total of around 1,300 songs.
  • He has won a National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1974, four Filmfare Best Male Playback Award, and three Bengal Film, Journalists' Association Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
  • Mukesh died of a heart attack on August 27, 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, US, where he had gone to perform in a concert.
  • He, Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar were the prominent male singers of the golden era of the Hindi cinema.
