Mumbai is Gearing up for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations

Mumbai : One of the major Hindu festivals Ganesha Chaturthi also known as Vinayak Chaturthi, is celebrating in the country and Crowd of devotees is visible at the temples of Lord Ganesha. While the Mumbai is also gearing up for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, which will be celebrates next 10 days.

Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayak Chaturthi celebrates in the month of Bhadrapada​ according to the Hindu calendar. Worship of Ganesha is performed during midday because the God is believed to be born at that time of the day.

The 10-day-long Ganeshutsav, which is the biggest festival of Maharashtra, starts from today on the auspicious occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi and it'll be ends on September 27 on Anant Chauturdashi with the Ganesha-Visarjana.

This year’s Ganeshutsav coincides with other festivals as well - the fasting holy month of Paryushan is underway and so is the Mount Mary fair. Besides, Bakrid, would be celebrated on September 25.

Tight security arrangements are being made and special traffic arrangements on days of immersion – September 18 (Friday), September 21 (Monday), September 23 (Wednesday) and September 27 (Sunday). Over the last week, people have started bringing the idols. However, the maximum Ganpati idols for homes, were brought on Wednesday amidst chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’.

Special prayers will be performed at various temples like the Siddhivinayak temple at Prabhadevi and Ganesh Mandir at Borivli.


While on the other hand, the biggest Ganesha festival celebrates at Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai, where the many of top Bollywood stars visits for the Darshana and worship of lord Ganesha.
