Rajeev Shukla has been elected again the new chairman of IPL

New Delhi : Rajeev Shukla who was a Member of Parliament since 2000, has been chosen IPL chairman again after a long hiatus. According to BCCI sources, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) bosses decided on Shukla. He will be replacing Ranjib Biswal.

If ex-Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly had the backing of BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya, Ranjib Biswal had the backing of former BCCI chief N Srinivasan while the Sharad Pawar faction was behind Ajay Shirke.

But with no solution in sight in the triangular contest, BCCI picked Shukla as a consensus candidate. Earlier, Rajeev Shukla was in line for a top BCCI post, but he had lost the BCCI elections for the treasurer's post to Anirudh Chaudhary.

Shukla was the IPL chairman before Biswal took over in 2013. He had resigned from the post after the 2013 spot-fixing scandal broke out.
